Trastevere, Tiber Island and the Ghetto: Mosaics, bridges and memory

Free · no booking Loop route

Duration
1 h 55 min approx.
Distance
3.5 km on foot
Stops
10 stops

A walk on both banks of the Tiber: the lanes and basilicas of Trastevere, the island where Rome has been healing the sick for more than two thousand years, and the old Jewish Ghetto, with its synagogue, its Roman ruins and the memory of the 16th of October 1943. You will cross the oldest bridge in the city still standing as it was built, and finish at the most delicate fountain in Rome. About two hours and roughly three and a half kilometres, not counting time inside buildings.

Start and end Piazza Trilussa
