The Berlin Wall: The border that cut through the streets

Free · no booking Loop route

Duration
2 h 5 min approx.
Distance
4.3 km on foot
Stops
10 stops

A loop along the exact line of the Wall: from the ghost station at Nordbahnhof to the Bernauer Straße memorial, with its preserved death strip, the Chapel of Reconciliation and the traces of the escape tunnels; then Conrad Schumann's leap, the Mauerpark, Oderberger Straße and the Zion Church, where the opposition printed in secret. Ten stops, a little over four kilometres and about two hours, not counting the climb up the viewing tower or time in the exhibitions.

  • It is a loop: you finish where you started.
  • Stop whenever you like. Your progress is saved on this phone.
  • The route and the texts load when you start, so it keeps working with patchy coverage.
  • The walk stays outdoors. The time does not include going inside the buildings.
  • Available in Spanish and English.
