El Raval: The Barcelona left off the postcards

Free · no booking Loop route

Duration
2 h approx.
Distance
3.4 km on foot
Stops
11 stops

A loop through the neighbourhood that grew on the far side of the city wall, where for centuries Barcelona sent whatever it did not want to see: hospitals, poorhouses, factories and cabarets. From the Liceu to the old Hospital de la Santa Creu, the MACBA, Sant Pau del Camp, Botero's cat and the Palau Güell. Eleven stops, a little over three kilometres and about two hours, not counting time inside the buildings.

Start and end La Rambla, opposite the Liceu

  • It is a loop: you finish where you started.
  • Stop whenever you like. Your progress is saved on this phone.
  • The route and the texts load when you start, so it keeps working with patchy coverage.
  • The walk stays outdoors. The time does not include going inside the buildings.
  • Available in Spanish and English.
